THE PROJECT

xx, Lotte is a brand new song cycle composed by Christian Chamoun, with texts and vocals by Elea Bekkers. A contemporary feminist commentary on the depiction of women in classical literature, the work draws on Goethe's Die Leiden des jungen Werther, singing a picture of a woman who is not madonna, mother or whore, but human.

We were commissioned to record the world premiere album of the work, capturing vocals and piano in full resolution. The recording process was careful and unhurried. The music demanded space, and we gave it that.

Alongside the recording, we produced a series of artist films and behind-the-scenes interviews exploring the ideas behind the project and the creative relationship between Bekkers and Chamoun. The album was released on Spotify and as a physical CD, with the films distributed across YouTube and the artists' own channels.
